Ahead of Game of Code to be held from April 8th to 10th at Forum Geesseknappchen in Luxembourg, IT One has met some of the teams and two of the speakers that will participate in the hackathon, and asked them to answer a few questions about their expertise fields and motivations.
IT One : Haxe appears to be a very exclusive programming language in the sense that few developers seem to have exposure to this type of programming. Is it really the case? How does Haxe work and how can the teams participating to Game of Code make it their own?
Nicolas Canasse, Director of Haxe Foundation:
"Haxe is a toolkit: when used with the appropriate framework it provides an high level programming language while keeping the code fully cross platform with native performances. Unless you want to extend a cross platform framework or develop your own, developing in Haxe is very similar to developing in Java, Javascript or C#."
IT One : Who has never dreamed of working in robotics? Today the dream comes true as anyone can now program your robot, Nao, isn't it?
Joan da Silva, Content and Design Director at Aldebaran Robotics:
"Yes it is! Anyone can contribute to NAO's and Pepper's developments by inventing new forms of use. The platform that we offer opens the way for new creative models, aimed primarily at application developers, but not exclusively. Animators, sound designers, graphic designers, linguists, or even education and reception specialists, people from all disciplines are equally invited to join the Aldebaran community to develop applications of a new kind!"
IT One : You have all enrolled a team for the Game of Code hackathon. What is your main objective, apart from winning?
Paulo Apolinario, Managing Director, Arhs Cube:
"At Arhs we believe that fun should be part of the daily work of our consultants, combined with professionalism, commitment and quality. Most of our Consultants do not only consider IT as a job. They are passionate and they seek to learn every day more and more. The Game of Code hackathon is challenging and offers them the possibility to test their own limits. We believe in them and are proud to see them wearing our colors."
Jeremy Jacquet, CEO & Damien Chasseur, Managing Director Luxembourg, ADNEOM:
"At ADNEOM, we promote evolution as a key element in everything we undertake. Our corporate vision is built on a human foundation: a positive thinking mindset. We are curious to see what our team of creative minds can develop. By participating to Game of Code, the developers have the opportunity to learn from others, improve their coding skills and meet other enthusiasts. In any way, we aim for a positive experience!"
Johann Blais, Head of Software Solutions, Ainos:
"Being involved in a contest like "Game of Code" will be a plus for our visibility on the market, especially if we can join the best teams and - why not - the winners. Beyond notoriety, this hackathon will be a human experience and a real challenge for our three experts in .NET, SharePoint and Xamarin development. Highly motivated by the competition and passionate about their craft, they will give their best performance to create an innovative and playful application."
Antoine Detante,IT Architect, Intech:
"Our main goal is to have fun. We like challenges, and we like writing code. This is also an opportunity to meet other coders, and to think and write code on subjects out of the ordinary."
